Living Prairie Museum
Description
The Museum is a 13 hectare endangered tall grass prairie preserve located inside the city. Set aside in 1968 as a remnant of original tall grass prairie, this preserve is home to over 160 species of prairie wildflowers, grasses and shrubs with a great array of wildlife. Explore this endangered ecosystem with our “Naturalist Knapsacks,” which are full of fun equipment and free to borrow while on the site.
Plan your visits during Crocus Days (April), Prairie Plant Sale Days (May & June), Monarch Butterfly Festival (July), Spirit of the Prairie (September) and Winter Snowshoe Programs.
