(Near) Downtown

Description

There are many trails along the Assiniboine, Red, and Seine Rivers. Most trails are fairly flat. Some on-road detours are required. Here is a list of possibilities and highlights:

  • The west bank of the Red and the north bank of the Assiniboine from the Louise Bridge to Blanchard Avenue near East Gate. The Forks Walkway is sometimes crowded with walkers.
  • The east bank of the Red from the north end of Tache Avenue to near the Redwood Bridge, and both the east and west banks of the Seine from the Red to Rue Thibault near Rue Dumoulin. Use the CN Rail Bridge to cross the Seine. The trails through Whittier Park are excellent, and are used for mountain bike races, but a few are close to the steep river bank in places.
  • The east bank of the Red from the Provencher Bridge to the south end of Lyndale Park Drive.
  • The west bank of the Red from the Norwood Bridge to the southwest of Churchill Drive Park. The trail through Churchill Drive Park is a nice ride.
