He shoots, He scores!!
The chill in the air, the sound of a sharpened blade on the smooth ice and of course, the Zamboni ... Hockey Night in Winnipeg is here!
It was opening night and everything was in order -- jersey; check, air horn; check, tickets; check, face painted kids; check. We decide to head down to the MTS Centre for the Manitoba Moose home game opener a litter earlier this evening.
I can’t quite recall why that was, maybe it was my boy’s excitement -- aged 10 & 12 so you can imagine the energy level – or maybe it was to grab a quick bite at the Gondola Pizza kiosk, whatever the reason it had to be fate.
Decked out in our Moose finest, we entered the arena and no sooner than five minutes after walking through the concourse, this guy comes up to us with a big smile on his face. Says he likes our team spirit, says he has a boy of his own who’s a big hockey fan and get this, the guy says he’s got three extra seats centre ice behind the Moose player bench and offers them to us.
Well the Moose won that home opener and we had the best seats in the house, and get this after the game the guy who gave us those great seats asks us if we want to meet his son. What? Yah, turns out it's Mike Keane – what an awesome Hockey Night in Winnipeg.
