The New Music Festival's theme this year is Breaking New Ground
and while the thematic focus is on the Arctic, it definitely is the
hottest place to be in February 2010!

Highlights you don't want to miss this year are:

• A pre-festival party at the Winnipeg Art Gallery complete with an intimate magical musical gallery tour with WSO music director Alexander Mickelthwate
• The World Premiere of WSO composer-in-residence Vincent Ho's new masterpiece Arctic Symphony that was inspired by a recent trip to the Arctic
• A special presentation by distinguished guest scientist, Dr. David Barber from University of Manitoba, that celebrates International Polar Year
• An opportunity to meet with top climate change scientists from around the world
• Pulitzer Prize winning works by composers Steven Stucky and Steve Reich
• Distinguished guest ensemble performance by 2008 Grammy Award winner Eighth Blackbird
• Canadian throat singer superstar Tanya Tagaq
• A show-stopping, adrenaline-filled homage to Les Paul, inventor of the electric guitar, with four solo electric guitarists and an ensemble of 20 guitarists - all on one stage!
