Hot Sunny Summers and Cold Sunny Winters

Winnipeg has a true four-season climate.

In winter, the mercury dips below -21 degrees Celsius (-9 degrees Fahrenheit) on average. Hot, dry summer days bring temperatures above 25 degrees Celsius (78 degrees Fahrenheit), while evenings are pleasantly cool. In all seasons, wide variations from the average values are quite common. The annual mean temperature is 2.6 degrees Celsius (36 degrees Fahrenheit).

More than half of the annual precipitation falls in the summer months, most frequently in the form of brief but sometimes heavy showers. Winnipeg receives 110 to 140 centimetres (43-55 inches) of snow annually.
