In 2007, according to Statistics Canada, there were 656,243 people residing in Winnipeg and a total of 712,671 inhabitants in the Winnipeg Census Metropolitan Area making it Manitoba’s largest city and the eighth largest CMA in Canada.
Of the CMA population, 49% were male and 51% were female. The median age of a Winnipegger was 38.1 years of age, compared to an average of 39.0 years of age for Canada as a whole. From 2003 to 2007, Winnipeg’s population grew by 0.54% on average.
